Art That Tells the Truth: A Commitment to Authenticity

In my studio, surrounded by canvases and prints, there is one guiding principle that informs every piece I create: authenticity. To me, art is not about decoration or imitation; it is a raw, honest expression of a moment, an emotion, or a perspective. It must be genuine. This belief is the foundation of my work and a reflection of who I am as a person. There is no room for bluffing in the world I create.

Equine elegance meets modern design in this kitchen, featuring Lauren Pigford Abbott's fine art photography mixed media pieces. Her unique blend of photography, graphic design, and overpainting technique breathes life into the horse-themed artworks adorning the walls.

Authenticity in art means that the work comes from a place of genuine feeling and experience. It is the artist’s hand, eye, and heart working in unison. When I am composing a painting or photograph, I am not just capturing a pretty scene. I am capturing the way the light made me feel, the story I saw in the landscape, or the quiet strength I perceived in a subject. When I am painting, each brushstroke is a decision driven by instinct and emotion, not by a formula or a trend. My goal is to translate my authentic experience into a visual language that others can feel.

This commitment means that my work is a direct extension of my own journey. The challenges, the joys, the quiet observations—they all find their way onto the canvas or through the lens. My art is a record of my truth. This is why I believe so strongly that art cannot be faked. A piece created without genuine connection lacks soul. It may be technically proficient, but it will not resonate on a deeper level. It will not move you, challenge you, or stay with you long after you’ve looked away.

This philosophy matters immensely to those who connect with and collect my work. When you bring one of my pieces into your home, you are not just acquiring an object; you are inviting in a piece of authentic human experience. You are choosing to live with an artwork that has a story, a perspective, and an emotional weight. Collectors and art lovers often seek this connection. They want to feel the artist's presence in the work and know that it was created with integrity and passion.

Ultimately, my commitment to authenticity is a promise. It is a promise to myself to stay true to my vision and to create work that is meaningful. And it is a promise to you, the viewer, that what you see is real. In a world of digital filters and curated perfection, I believe there is a powerful need for the genuine, the honest, and the true. My art is my way of contributing to that. It is my truth, shared with you.
